YOUNG FARMERS
The monthly meeting of the Levin Young Farmers' Club was recenfly held in the Oddfellows' Hall, when Mr. M. Roiston presided over a large attendanee of members and advisory members. Members who played in the seven-a-side knockout football tournament were thanked for their attendanee at these games. The Levin team will. be travelling to Waipukurau to compete in the Wellington Council games. The speaker of "the evening, Dr. Campbell, was introduced by the chairman. With the aid of lantern slides, Dr. Campbell gave a most interesting description oi ms stay in America while doing a thesis which gained him his degree. The slides were taken by him in cqlour. The American University of Ijinnesota . was dealt with very thoroughly, most of the universitybeing shown in detail. Scenes were taken in the spring, autumn and winter. The university had been thickly planted with trees, apd it certainly gave a very beautiful appearance in the autumn. The speaker then showed slides and commented on a trip down to the arid wastes of Arizona, where he furthered .his studies. The cattle ranches were widely shown and the method of. this ' type of farming was also demonstrated. Mr. R. Speedy then iha'nked Dr. Campbell for the enjoyable entertainment he Lad prdvided. The next meeting will be on August 7, when, after the business is concluded, a social and dance 'will be held in honour of the club i chairman and his wife.
