OTAKI TEAM PLAYS WELL / - In 'the second round of the Manawatu A • grade table tennis competitions, held in Palmerston North last Tuesday evening, the Otaki team inflicted a convincing defeat on last year's winners, Terrace End No. 1, by a margin of 14 matches to 6. The Otaki team settled down early and played consistently well, in marked contrast to the nervous beginning and • spasmodic play in evidence at the initial match. Under the guidance of Mr. Frank Smith, a former Hutt Valley representative and eaptain of the Manawatu team to / play Wairarapa shortly, the local team is striving by keen practice'to emulate.its two early successes'.
