EFFORT TO CORRECT DIRECT SALES

WELLINGTON, July 4. Efforts were being made to correet the present praetiee of direct saies of honey by producers to eonsumers, by seeking an inerease in the present price

schedule which places the groeerv trade at a distinct disadvantage, said the president of the National Beekeepers ' Assoeiation, Mr. E. A. Field, in a state ment on the question of the lack ox supply of honey through normal trade ehannels. "The price sehedule," said Mr. Field, "is still on a prewar level while costs of production have soared. Consequently beekeepers are forced to sell direct from the honev-house m order to meet these costs. If the prices to the trade were made eompetitive by the Priefe Tribunstl, the present unsatisfaetdry position would largelv disappear providing honey erops were normal."
