The death has occurred in Wellington of Colonel Joseph Garreti: Roach, D.S.O., aged 72. * He was educated at Feilding and was on the staff of. the Treasury until 1911 when he retired. It will interest the friends of Mr. and Mrs. N. D. Braithwaite,. of Kaimai, Matamata, ,2and formerly tjf Levin, to know that Mr. Braith--waite's brother, Mr. Warwick Braithwaite, has been staying with them. The controller of trade training for the Rehabilitation Department for more than three years', Mr. A. J. Ridler, has retired after 40 years in the civil service. Mi\ Ridler has held several responsible positioris including those of controller of employment.
