BEEKEEPERS GETTING NO INFORMATION

"Tliis coni'ereiice disagrees with. the Minister of Marketing in refusing to give the National Beekeepers' AssOcia1 tion full information of the activities of the lnternal Marketing Division,. In doing so it vvould remind hira that his refuaal implies his iack of confidenee in liis own department and is reflected in the producers' Jack of confidenee as sliown by the falling oJI of supplies." This remit, submitted by Canterbury, was carried at the annual conferenee of the National Leekeepers ' Association. In the event of the lnternal Marketing Division closing down its honey section, the association will deniand that the assets of tliat section be disposed of as to plant by public tendor and as to other reserves by returning surpluses' to suppliers. Before the sale of the I.M.D. plant and stoek, the association will demand that due notice be given it and that the property sale be submitted to the ■ industrv for consideration. If the honey section is retained, the Government is to be invited to set up a Producers ; Board consisting of three members elected by producers and two by the Governinent, the board 's powers to be limit-ed to the honey suppiy volunteered by producers. A Kouth Auckland remit was carried asking that the incoming executive inquirc fuily into the marketing of honey to ensure a continuatio.n of stable marketing conditions. The Honey Suppliers' Association is to be asked to cooperate fully with the executive of the National Bcekeepers' Association to ensure adequate supplies of honey to the I.M.D. and to see that the president oi the Beekeepers' Association is invited to attend committee meetings of the Suppliers Association. The executive of the Beekeepers' Association is being instructed to put forward its best efforts to secure an increase in price. The lnternal Marketing Division is to be asked for reasons for its inaetivity in effieeting prosecutions in regard to the non-purchase of seal stamps.
