V PLAYERS BRAVE THE FLOODS With the flood- waters over the fence tops on the lower road' to Buckley, -. and water several feet deep over the top road, many keen golfers braved 'the floods to play their weekend golf : 1 The trip was mq,de from the water 's edge per medium of a tractor-drawn trailer, but- when the players had completed their game ahd it was time to return to their parked • cars • they foiind 'that the water, was too, high to get throiigh, so a long walk was necessary over - the hills to get to their vehicles. In spite of their ordeal all reported an excellent day's golf/ • A stableford competition was played on Sunday, which was won by W. Stern on the count back from H. Mabey, both players scoring 32 pomts. Others were: K. Thomson 31, H. Stern 30, N. Mabey 30, J. Mabey 27 and C. Stern 27, These were the only cards handed in. "
