Personal John, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Qrant, is at present t>n his. way home from Japan, • Heavy Rain in Otaki Heavy rain fell in Otaki again yesterday and in consequence water channels in the streets were unable to cope with the abnormal flow, and overflowed on to some of the footpaths and the middle of the roads. Farm lands are still well submerged, and passenger traffic on the Rangiuru Road has been interfered with. The water, however, is quickly subsiding and the rivers are almost down to their usual level. The rainfall for several days has been exceptional. Accident at Waikanae A motor accident occurred on the Waikanae Bridge at about nine o'clock yesterday morning, when a car driven by Mr. l. P. Roberts, of Palmerston North, which was goi'ng south, and another being driven north by Mr. g. W. Kaffey, of Wellington, collided. . The three passengers in Mr.- Roberts' car were only slightly injured, but Mrs. Kaffey and her small daughter, Dolores, aged three, sustained severe cuts, and after receiving medical attention were sent to the Palmerston North Hospital.
