NORFOLK WANTED UNDER N.Z. RULE
AUCKLAND, June 26. The Auckland Chamber of Commerce has decided to request the Associated Chambers at Wellington to approach the Government concerning the practicability of negotiations for the transfer of the sovereignty of Norfolk Island from Austraiia to New Zealand, this being urged, beeause of the nearness of Norfolk Island to.New Zealand and the island 's strategip eeonomie value. The Auckland Chamber 's view is that moSt residents of Norfolk, being former. New Zealandeis, are generally favourable to the transfer of 'sovereignty. It is stated that there is little likelihood of the development of trade unless Norfolk becomes New Zealand territorv. Norfolk could produce large c{uantities of citrus fruits, t'omatoes, passion fruit and potatoes.
