In-lamb ewes provided practieally the entire yarding of 5000 head of- store sheep at Stortford ' Lodge today and for tlie.se the recent st'rong jnquiry was well maintained, rulihg - values holdiug up well. Wether ho'ggets ^ere imssing fxom today 's entry. Four-tooth ewes in lamb to Eomney rams realised 35s, six-tooths 33s 4d and 34s Gd and four-year-olds '30s 6d. An attractive line of good mout'hed iiveyear ewes in lamb, to; Southdown rams sold at 34s. Other live-year-olds made 22s '6d to 30s. Two-tQpths sold dt from 32s. to 37s. Mixed ag'ed in-lamb ewes sold at 31s 6d to 36s 6d and ewe hoggets at 26s 9d. Values for fat sheep, were again fully firm. Prime wethers were traded at 38s 7d to 41s lOd, medium at 37s 7d to 37s lOd and unlinished at 26s lOd to '34s lOd. Heavy ewes realised 30s ld to 30s 4d, prime 29s;'4d and unlinished 21s 7d to 25s lOd with prime young ewes at 33s lOd to 34s 7d. Heavy hoggets made to 40s ld, medium 33s 4d to 34s 7d and light 26s ld to 2Ss 7d. There was little chpnge in' the tone of the store cattle jnarket when a yarding of 450 head came forward. Weaners were very much niore in evidence and for this class of cattle the demand was steady within recent valuations. Values for weaner steers ran-ged from £4 4s to £7 2s, one particularly attractive line being passed in at £7 7s. Eising twoycar steers made £9 16s. Good empty cows sold at £9 2s, others making £4. Weaner heifers were traded at £3 15s. Influenced by the. short yarding oi only 100 head, butchers competed keenly for beef with the result that values were firmer. The entry included some splendid cutting beasts with an iucreased oFering of runners and vealers. Seven well linished A.A. bullocks averagCd £22 14s 3d. Nine buliocks in an attractively flnished draft averaged £22 6s, eight cows averaging £14 2s 6d and 10 heifers £12 18s 9d. Heavy- ox made. £22 8s Od to £23 0s, prime £19 8s Gd to £20 16s and lighter £15 8s 6d to £18 3s 6d. Heavy cows sold at £15 3s 6d. Prime cows made £13 8s 6d to £13 16s and nnfinished £9' 18s 6d. Other values were: Prime heifers £12 11s to £13 3s 6d, medium £1,0 16s to £10 JLSs 6d, unfmished £8 8s 6d to £9 18s 6d, runners £4 to £6 19s„ vealers £5 to £6 15s.
