There had been a marked increase i n absenteeism in Yorkshire which was well abo%'e fhe av'ei-age for tlie wliole cou-ntry and also two-'tliirds of the coal lost by disputes in the first half of June, was lost in Yorkshire disputes. This' could easily prejudiee tlie success of the five-day week. , "''1 must repeat .that if we fail to get' tlie coa! we ueed 7n the hext 12 to 18 ■moiiths, the conntry vv.ill be in grave peril, " he said.
