Personal Mr. Stuart Cassie, of Okato, New Plymouth, who has been staying with old friends at Shannon, left .this week for a few days i'n Palmerston North prior to retummg home. Mrs. Hulena, of Auckland, and Mrs. M., Turley, of Tirau, are at present at Shannon to nurse their mother, Mrs. E. J. Sullivan, who has been confined to her bed for the past three weeks. Mrs. Sullivan's health is still causing her family anxiety. Business Changes Hands Mr. R. Herbert has disposed of his taxi business to Mr. T. S. Downes, who will commence o'n Monday. Mr. Downes is an experienced taxi driver, having driven a taxi for Mr. T. E. Harrison prior to entering the army. A continuous day and night service will be available from a stand in Plimmer Terrace. School Aids Health Camp Reporting at the June meeting of the Shannon School Committee, the headmaster, Mr. F. O. Burtt, advised that a collection was made through the school for funds for the Otaki Health Camp and resulted in £4 12s being raised. This is a magnificent gesture on the part of the local boys and girls and the school staff in assisting those less, fortunate children, and the result of the collection • is a credit to the local school.
