Personal Mrs. Fife is at present spending a holiday at Paraparaumu Beach. Mrs. Butts, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Harris, leaves in the course of a few days' time to take up residence in America. Festival Rehearsal Schools participating in the forthcoming choirs' festival in Otaki on July 16 and 23, held a very sU'ccessful combined practice at Te Horo when the whole programme was rehearsed, the children showing their enthusiasm by entering into it with vim. The audience is assiired of a treat, the songs done in parts being of an excellent quality and the voices beginning to blemd well. To enable the children of the districtto enjoy the festival a special matinee is being given. Raumati Hall All the labour ln the construction of the Raumati Beach public hall which is being erected, has been voluntarily contributed by the residents, even including plumbing. This was reported at a meeting of the Hutt County Council on Monday when an account for £102 10s Od for the use of a bulldozer to flatten'out the site, was passed fOr payment after it was decided that such a donation from the council would not be detrimental to the residents' committee procuring a Government subsidy. The hall is being erected on council property and will become the property of the council, but the hall committee will be left in charge. ' The hall will cost about £700, but the value of the completed hal'l will be at least £1000.
