Dr. Wolfgang Jaenicke, Bavarian State S&oretary for Refugee Questions, said tliousands of Germans were fleemg westward from tlie.Soi'iet zone in Germany, claimitig that they feared conscription into mines. or the Russian Army. He asserted that 2000 . eastern 1 zone Germans had erossed illegully- into Bavaria during the last fiVe' -to» ten days. Usually the illegal crbssTngs did not exceed 500 to (500 a month. The Associated Press 's A'lunich correspondent says the stateinent follows a Russian ahnouneement of plans to register all workers. Dr. Jaenicke said :t was iinpossible to verify the refugees' stories.
