OTAKI BOWLING CLUB

The monthly meeting of the Otaki Bowling Club was held on Tuesday night. The chair was occupied by the vice-president, Mr. J. D. Avery, in the unavoidable absence of the president. There were also prseent: Messrs. Buxton, Walsh, Robertson, Young, Nicolson and McGilligan (secretary) . Apologies were received from Messrs. Wilson, Boggs and Bartosh. It was decided to donate £1 ls to the Umpires' Association in Wellington, and to hold the annual meeting on June 24. It was also agreed to make use of a corer on the green. It was considered that the corer could also be used to advantage on the eroquet green. It was stated that Mr. W. M. Horton had expressed himself as well pleased with the condition of the green. A letter was received stating that a confererice of bowlers from various parts of the Dominion was to be held at Palmerston North on three days to discuss various greenkeeping problems and different aspects of research work. Mr. Walsh was appointed to attend, it being agreed that the conference, should be of considerable- benefit bo all clubs.
