SMALL LAND TRANSACTIONS
WELLINGTON, .June 13. A suggestion that transactions oi less -tlian £100 in valuo should not go before the Land Saies Committee w:ls niade by Mr. H. G. Dickie (Rotorua) at the quarterly meeting of the Kehabilitation Council. Mr. Dickie was commenting on the time taken for transactions to go .-through land saies committees. He considered his suggestion if adopted- would speed up building eonsiderably vvhere sections of lesser value were involved. Replying to Alr. Dickie, the Minister of Lands and Rehabilitation (Mr Skinner) said a similar suggostion had already been examined but it had been considered that whatever figure was fixed would immediately become the minimum price for building sections. The Minister contended that once ari application was lodged undue delavs did not occur. In land saies trans actions more often than not the appli cation was not presented to the . registrar until about a month after it had been oompleted. Therein lay the real delay. The average time faken for a case by the Wellington Urban Land Saies Committee was three weeks. ' The rural committee sat three times weekly and more often if necessary. * i
