PAID £80 FOR PICTURE WORTH £3000

-Press Association

By Telegraph

WELLINGTON, June 20. Inquiries of auctioneers show that good prices for furniture and second-hand goods are still realisable, although bargains are scarce, One instance is quoted, however, where an Auckland man bought what the auctioneer described as a genuine Constable picture for £80. The man sent it to England to be valued. Christie's have since advised that they could probably get £3000 for it.
