R.S.A. AWARDS GOLD BADGES
WELLINGTON, June 17. Gold badges of the New Zealand Re..tUrned Services' Association, awarded for outstanding service to the association, were presented to. the president, Mr. B. J. Jacobs, a,nd treasurer, Mr. J. ;p. Harper, at tonight 's • session of the conference. Both are retiring from their ■positions with the association, The .award makes rhem honorary life members. - In presenting the badges ' the Dominion vice-president, Mr. C. O. Bell, saia Mr. Jacobs was, president. af the Palmerston .Nortji branch of the .B.S.A. from 1918 to 1944, Dominion vice-presi-yTLgnt from 1935 to 1943 when he was elected to the .Do.minion presidency. Mr. Harper had been honorary treasurer of the association for 27 years. He was Dominion president m 1917 and on the executite since the inception of the associhfioii and had afcted in many capaeities for it. -
