SKYMASTER CRASHES BEING INVESTIGATED.
Reeeived Tuesday, S.10 p.m. W ABHIXGTOX, June 17. There was 110 evidenee of meehanieal failure or struetural defeet in the Blqy master -whiidi eraslied on Blue Kidge mountain near Leeslnirg, Virginia on June 13, said .M r. Janies Landis, eiiairman of the Civil Aeronauties Board and the Board of Experts appointed by President Truinan to investigate reeent air disasters. The tentative hypothesis was that the crash was due to a "inlot error". There was nothing to indicate that the three aeeidents to the same type of aireraft reeently — the other two being erashes at LaGuardia field on. Alay 29 and at Bainbridge, .Maryland, 011 May 3U — resulted from a eoninion cause. However, he eould not rule out the possibility that some eommereial Skymasters might have to be grounded/ There were different types of the Skyniaster and some had not "done the job the way it eould be done."
