EXCELLENT SALE AT LEVIN The New Zealand Loan ■ and Mercantile Agency Co„ Ltd., conducted their fourteenth clearing sale for the year recently pn the property of Mr. Ward Stratford, Levin. This sale was the most suecessful of all, attaining the outsta'nding average of £18 6s for the herd, including three-quarter cows. The quality of this herd proved itself by the spirited bidding, and it was without doubt' a credit to Mr. Stratford's thoroughness during his 20 years of dairying. The top-priced cow for the day went to a local .dairy farmer at £26.' The following are the prices realised: — Cows in milk, £14 10s, £20, £22, £23 to £25; cows on drop, £20, £22, £23 to £26; cows due July-August, £16, £1.8 10s, £21 to £24; cows due September, £15, £2,0 10s to £23; cows, three-quart.er and empty, £7 5s, £8 10s to £20 10s; heifers r.w.b., £16 5s to £17; one to two-year Jersey bull, 30 guinr eas; one sow to farrow. £12. Sundries sold at late market rates.
