LEVIN CROQUET CLUB

tVELL-ATTENDED ANNUAL MEETING The 'annual meeting of the Levin Croquet Club was held recently, when there was a good attendance of members. The president, Mrs. W. Bull, gave a comprehensive- report on the season's work and play. The year had been a-very suecessful one both soeially and financially. In the course of her remarks, the president said -that motor power had been put on the lawn mower, and that a new roller had been purchased. The roller had been paid for in the one season. "A gala day was held in February for the roller fund and due to the good work of the members who brought produce and sewing, the splendid sum of £23 15s was raised. This year we succeeded in winning the Sherwood Cup, although only by a very narrow margin, the scores being Levin 146, Manakau 143, Foxton 124 and Otaki 102. "A highlight* of the season was a visit in March from Messrs. H. F.ord and A. Heenan, from Wellington. Both gentlemen were enthusiastic in their praise of our jawps." In conclusion, Mrs.. Bull thanked all who had helped during the year, especially those who had assisted to top-dress the lawns and mark them out, the greenkeeper (Mr. Scptt) , the auditor (Mr. F. Nichoison) an,d all members who ha,d help.ed with bridge parties and donations.

Thp balance-sheet presented by the secretary, Mrs. J. Gilmour, showed the club to be in a sound finaiiclal ppsifcion. The offipers for the coming year were elected as follows:— Patron.Mr. H. B.
