CELEBRATION BY KOPUTAROA WOMEN'S INSTITUTE

• The -Koputaroa Women's Institute celebrated its fifteenth birthday on Saturday ev.ening with a social and dance in the Koputaroa Hall. The president, Mrs. Koberstein, welcomed members and friends from outside -institutes. A y.ery enjoyable programme had been arranged and was ably carried out under the direction of j^s. W., J. Lanc,ast.er. Recitations were giveri by Audrey Storey and songs by. Misses Heayns and 3hultz. A jplayreading by Mesdames . Kilsby, ' Brown • and Addinell, entitled "Widows," was a great success', The junior members entertained with a play which was well received, those taking part being Joyce and> Joan McLaughlin and Betty and "Jean Ching. ' .Competitions were w°n By Miss Spenicer and Messrs. Sanson and Mackle. Supper was served by the members, the main event being the cptting of the cake made by Mrs. Iplsby and iced by Mrs. Hood. The president called on Mesdames Butt (Ihakara), Chittingden (Foxton) and Claridge (executive member) to light the candles, which- were extinguishedi by another executive member, Mrs. Kernohan. Mrs. Hockley, president of the Manawatu Federation, cut the cake. A most enjoyable evening was brought to a close by the singing of the National Anthem.
