AUCKLAND, June 16. A fruitless search by horseback of 14 miles of the far north coastline between Houhora and Kaimaumau, was made by Constable McNeill, of Houhora, to check a report of the discovery of a small boat which might belong to the Auckland auxiliary scow Haere presumed lost on a voyage from Parengarenga to Auckland at the end of last month. The boat, described as a dinghy about 16 feet long, was seen by a Maori on the coast several days ago but the report was not received by the police until this morning. All police stations in the north have been asked by the Marine Department to check any reports whiqh might gi.ve a clue to the disappearance of the Haere and although it is possible the boat was carried to sea by the westerly weather after its discovery Constable McNeill will continue his patrol on horseback tomorrow. Mr. I. O. Pafry, director of the company owning the Haere, said the scow 's lifeboat was nearly 15 feet long. The Haere also' carried a flat-bottomed 8-foof. dinghy. .
