QUEENSLAND BEATEN BY 23 POINTS TO 14.

Received Monday,' 7.45 p.m. 5 BRISBANE, June 16. Playing their second match at Brisbane today, the All Blacks defeatea v^ueensland by 23 points to 14. Queensland forced the play on opening and got within ten yards of the New Zealand line but bad handling by the local backs enabled the Kiwis to break through and Mason, on the right wing, twice got within an ace of th'e touch line only . to be forced out. Queensland could not get the Kiwis oiit of their 25 and only a timely punt by Windsor which found the sideline on the New Zealand twentyfive, saved a seore. Queensland at this stage launched a determined attack. By f air means or foul they meant to score but all they tsueceeded in doing was to force New Zealand into a breach and Kirk goaled from a penalty, making the score after 13 minutes, Queensland 3, New Zealand 0. New Zealand resumed the attack and tried the opposite wing in their next attack on the local citadel. Ten minutes latter a pretty back line movement saw Allen and Smith striving to make the man over. Both succeeded in sendLng Argus over in a handy position foi Webster to convert. — New Zealand 5, Queensland 3. Spurred on by the New Zealand change of taetics, Queensland used vveiglit and speed to break through and from a scrum well into the New Zealand twentyflve Schulte flashed on the in side and sent McLean over. Kirk missed the kick. — Queensland 6, New Zealand 5. Just on half time Mason gained his reward for his continual sideline dashes. He was agaiu caught in possession but he had worked his confederates into a position and passed to Allen, to Thornton who passed to Hobbs for the latter to go over under the posts. Webster casily converted making the halftime scores New Zealand 10, Queensland 6. Three minutes after the resumption New Zealand staraped through Jeaving the Queensland defence slashed to rib bons as Smith gambolled over under the posts. Webster easily converted making the scores New Zealand 15, Queensland 6. White, the New Zealand forward. broke up the Queensland attack on the New Zealand twentyfive by moving smartly from the scrum and harrassing the Queensland backs to such an extent that the visitors worked half the length of the field, with Thornton chiming in with vigorous clear-eut taekling. at this stage was featured by some bril liant dashes by the backs of both sides. Most brilliant of all was a move initiated by Schulte, the Queensland half, who made ground, passed to the winger who dropped the ball. Still at top speed Schulte gathured again, ran infield and passed to McLean, the Queensland captain, who was grounded. He was recalled because of a New Zealand infringement and Kirk kicked a penalty goal 18 . minutes after resumptiQn. It went to Thornton who sent Argus over wide out. Webster failed from a difiicult angle. In the last few minutes New Zealand eased up and Queensland quickly turned the tables. They thr^w the ball about. in a determined manner and were within au ace of the visitors' line when an infringement stopped play. Kirk failed with the penalty from a handy position but Queensland would not be denied in the last few minutes and a daring bTeak away from a ruck by Bourke ended in a score. His support actually dropped the ball but he gath ered it up again and tlew across the line, wide oiit on the right wing.
