WELLINGTON, June 10. A reeor'd ofl'ering of over £8000 was received by the Baptist Union in its an aual self-denial week at the heginuinj. A May. The objective was £7000. Onlv three weeks later, on May 25, a furthei £8500 was given in response to .an appeal from India to assist with ■famimrelief in Tripuna State. This made u i.otal gift of - over --£4-1,500 from 9000 Baptists in four weeks. The.se figures were given todav b\ the president of . thc Baptist Union IMr. B. WillLams, Auckland, who is at tendi-ng the Union 's annual council ineeting at Wallis House, Lower Kutt. With Revs. -R. G. Brown and B. N Ende, IMr. Williams eompleted a toui of N.ew Zealand on Sunday at Gisborne. Beginning on IMarcli 1 they travelleH G000 miles by ear and held 100 meetings. One aim was to form a Baptist Men's Missionary Society to support the men in the 'field by pravenand gifts. The membership has already reached 1000.
