After having been introduced to! the qudience by the convener,*Mrs. H. S. "Powell,, the vice-president, Mrs. K. .Grant' welcomed the -teams; and paid a tribute to the principal of the 'Horowhenua 'College; Mr.. N. A. •B.yrne, for his assistance* and for allowing the iiistitute to use the hall for the festival. Thanks were also accorded, Mr. A. •A. Savell and his helpers backi stage, Mr. J. W. Clarke and Mr. H.' Tomlinson for making available the furniture necessary for the settings, and to Mr. K. A. Alder^on for arranging the lighting effiects.r Others mentioned by Mrs. Grant! were the Playreaders, and "all other friends who had kindly lent properties. In conclusion she paid, a tribute to the work of Mrs. Powell, to whom the success of the festival was largely due. Mrs. Grant then introduced the adjudicator, Mr. W. ,J. Mounfcjoy, df; Napier. The Levin W.I. presented the drama, "Flickering Light," , those taking part being Mesdames Hesp, Perigo, Kircaldie, Black and Nichol. The producer was Mrs. A.; A. Savell. •> A comedy, "Thereby Hangs a Tale," was chosen by the Otaki W.I. and was prodqced by Mrs/ Gower. The cast ,comprised Mes-, dames Townrow, Empson, Moss, Hunter and Hewitson and Miss P. Ralph. The final presentation was the comedy, "Everyone .Comes -to; Mabel," by the Levin W.I. Junipr. Circle under Miss Beth Bienkhorri.. The cast comprised Misses Jqan Bowden, Margaret McDonald, Monica Clapcott, Joan Newman, May Harrison, Dorothy Johnsoni and Moya Powell. The comments of the adjudicator will be published -in a later* issue. , The festival is to be continued. in the Civic •Theatre, Otaki, tomorrow night and again -in the Horowhenua College, Hall," -Levin, on Thursday night, the Comffienc-' ing time in each case being 7.45 p.m.
