JUNE MEETING Mrs. J. P. Allerby presided at thj June. meeting of.the Church of Ergland Ladies' Guild, when tnere was an excellent att mdance of members. Rev. 3. H. Datson and Mrs. Datson were also present. Mrs. Thornton, of Hobsonville, and Mrs. Ford, of Wanganui, were welcom^d as visitors, and Mrs. I. Evans, Foxton Road, proposed a." a new member. The resignation cf Mrs. Lang. who is leaving for Marton was received, the president jxpressing regret as Mrs. Lang had always willingly helped in any way. " Mrs. Allerby . intimated that' a 161b parcel of foodstuffs had been posted to England, and asked that members bring soap next meeting d&y to parcel up for England. A rerolution was passed that the president, secretary and Mrs. S. L. Hyde make arrangements for the holding of a shop day. The secivtary, Mrs. Parr, reported on the dance held on June 2 and as Mrs. Hyde was unable to attend through indisposition, the secretary told of the visits paid by Mrs. Hyde to the sick people during Ma^. Mr. Datson gave notice that a social would be held in the Parish Hall on June 19, church members of all ages and their friends being invited to attend. Admission would be by a plate for supper. He also reported that satisfactory arrangements had been made for evensong to be conducted every Sunday at Ven. Bede's Church at 7 p.m. It was expected that a confirmation service would be conducted by the new bishop at Shannon in October. Therefore, prospective candidates were asked to send their names in during June. Considerable interest was taken in the display of articles on the three long trestle tables, the result of a competition for "something made from a sguar bag," arranged by Mrs. Len-Ward. Ingenuity, artistry and good workmanship w,ere displayed in the large collection of pl^in and fancy articles, which made it a difficult ;task- for Mrs. J. Newton to judge.
