WELLINGTON, June 11. A jproposal that the Government should be recommended to consider usiiig the^ Bank of New Zealand to linance primary producers, was adopted when report of the land and agriculture committee was jresented to the Labour Party conferenee today by Mr. G. A. Hansen, of Eketahuna. A remit to the conferenee had ^uggested the establishment of an Agricultural Bank. ' The conferenee endorsed a reeommendation "that the Department of Agriculture be requested to carry out a comprehensive survey of a potential productive cap'aeity of New Zealand as a primary produeing country and pay particular attention to the'flexibility of particular land to meet national requirement from time to time. " The conferenee referred to the Government for consideration, a proposal for the investigation of the possibility of manufacturing organic fertilisers from sewage waSte and also proposed that the use of certilied seeds be encouraged by the Department of Agriculture. A committee reeommendation that all leases should be under the jurisdiction of.the Land Saies .Oofurt was adopted. The establishment of a chair in Veterinary science was approved by the conferenee. L' The Government is to be recommended to request the State Forestry Service to supply farmers with young tre'es for planting. belts a,nd jflantations, at a nominal •price.' - * . *• * The'confer'erice recommehded that all farm.lands suitable for settlement and absentee-owned, be taken over by the Government for settlement pi Lioses. Another proposal adopted was that the method of election of dairy company directors be altered to a system whereby one supplier received one vote.
