REVIVAL OF TABLE TENNIS
, CLUB FORMED LOCALLY A good gathering of the followers of the sport of table tennis met on Thursday evening to discuss the formation of a club in Shannon. Mr. R. Herbert, whof convened the meeting, outlmed the proposal and it was ultimately decided to hold a practice night in the Parish Hall this evening. The official opening of the club is to take place on June 18 in the Parish Hall. It is hoped that a team of Wellington players wili be present for the opening. A tentative committee has been set up to get the club under way and then a meeting of members will be held to elect officers. This season the club will confine its aetivities to local matches until such time as the memoers get a grounding of the sport, and next season the club will affiliate with the parent body and interclub matches will be arranged. A good membership is expected and the officials of the club hope to have six tables in operation by opening night.
