The Minister of -Works, Mr. Sempie, said today that no eriticism of hh English manufacturers was intended m his remarks coneerning the delay in manufacture and delivery of Eiiglisli generatipg equipment. The English' manufacturers had done an excelleut job during recent years under mos: difti'cult circumstanees. During the war and the immediate postwar years, they had been faced with tremendous diificultips in meeting demands for their equipment, Mr. Bemple said he had mentioned the delays that had taken ■ place in tha delivery of equipment, foi the sole purpose of demonstrating to the public the difficulty with which uiv New Zealand Government was faced li bbfaining equipment for the cpmpletipii of its hydro scfiemes.
