WHO WILL BE SELECTED

With the senior represenrauvc trials at Levin next Saturday there is considerable speculation as to who will be selected as Horowhenua's elect. This season sees a larger array of possibles than for many years past, and tne selector's task will' not be an ea^y one. On games to date I would choose the following combina- ^ Backs— Full-back: H. Jacob (Foxton); wingers: Evans and Betty (Foxton); centre: W. Galieway (Athletic) \ fivc-eightlis. K. De Castro (Athletic) and Cooper (Foxton) ; half-back: G. Sciascia (Wanderers). Forwards. — Front row: Taylor (Foxton), B. McCashin (Hui Mai) and N. Natana (Hui Mai) ; ,s|de row * G. Ramsbottom ( Otaki - Rahui) and J. Corbishley (Athletic) ; locks: w,: Winiata and S. Bartholomew (Wanderers) ; back row* W. Lincoln (Wanderers). I think this team would prove itself to be one of the best that Horowhenua has ever had. The relationship between the forwards and backs is as near perfect as it is possible to ge't. The pack consists of hard and fast players who have impressed Saturday after Saturday in competition games. The rearguard is a speedy and aggressive combination. Every member of the pack mentioned deserves a place in the representative side. They are all big men who know their rugby. Besides having weight for the scrums they all have a good burst of speed. , , . The only player to watch in the back line will be De Castro, who usually plays m the fullback position. Sciascia hphind the scrum is the nat-

ural choice after his periorinance in the Maori-Pakeha game. Galloway, considered by many as the best back in the Horowhenua district today, gives the team added strength and his kickmg is a further advantage. * A noticeable feature of my team is its absence of Shannoh players, but in choosing it I was anxious to select those players who would make the strongest possible side. I do not think the selection of the district's elect should have

any relationship to club representation. Some surprise may be felt that I have not included the two Shannon backs, Pederson and Rauhihi, and Callesen in the forwards. Similarly, my non-inclu-sion of the - Robinsons from Hui Mai in the forwards- may cause surprise. Whatever the final selection, it will bfe hard to exclude .any of the fifteen players I have mentioned. ;
