Personal Mr. and Mrs. D. G. Sutherland are at present on a visit to the Taranaki district. The many friends of Mrs. T. W. Synnott will regret to learn that she is in a very indifferent state of health, and will wish her a speedy .and complete reeovery. Mr. J. Neill, who was recently severely burned with benzine and is still in hospital in Palmerston North, is reported to be making a good reeovery from his injuries. The death occurred on Wednesday at Dunedin of Mr. R. (Bob) Lovett, for some time a resident of Otaki. Deceased, who was 53 years of age, leaves a waiow to mourn her loss. The death occurred at Green Lane Hospital, Auckland, on Saturday of Mr. Vic. Letford, in his 54th year. The deceased was wellknown locally, being with the Post and Telegraph Department. Some 23 years ago he left', for the north, and at the time of his death was overseer at Pukekohe, where the burial took place. He underwent a very serious operation about five weeks ago. There was a large and representative gathering1 at the funeral/' among the nu'mber being several ex-Otaki-ites, while members of the Pukekohe Druids' Lodge were present in large numbers. Besides his widow (nee Miss Judd, of Otaki), he leaves two sons, David (Te Awamutu) and Ronald (Pukekohe) , and a daughter, Beryl (Mrs. Roberts). Also a brother, Lew, and sisters, Mrs. Mat. Bevan, late of Manakau, and Mrs. Calvert.
