NIGHT OF GAIETY PROMISED
MARCHING BALL HAS MANY ATTRACTIONS There are some things that come once in a lifetime and the Horo whenua Marching Association's first annual ball in the Regent Ballroom next Wednesday night promises to be' one of them. At 8.15 p.m. to the strains of Billy Larkin's band, the opening waltz will commence one of the gayest functions to be held in Levin, not only for dancers but for those who enjoy looking on. At 8.45 p.m. soine lucky couple is going to receive the prize for the "Lucky Spot," while at 9.15 the grand march will take place. At" 9.45 the first appearance in Levin of a Hawaiian ballet, bringing rythm and lilting melodies of the South Sea Isles, will carry those present to the lands of open beaches and sunshine. The second .floor show will be a demonstration of the latest dances from America ~>y pupils of Miss Irene Oliver, Palmerston North. Then there will be a tap duo by two of the huia girls in the Hawaiian ballet. The supper, which is in the capable hands of the ladies' committee, will take no little time to devour, with delicious sandwiches super savouries and cakes to top them off. And then out come the novelties to make a gay party really gay as the night rolls on to morning. The J-Force boys home on leave will be there and the usual cloak rnom facilities will be available Do not ask your friends next day what it was like — they will be too dazed to tell you anyway, and you would not believe them when they tell you such variety was crammed !• °'ne night.
