LADIES' GOLF COMPETITION
ENJOYABLE TOURNAMENT ON KING'S BIRTHDAY A one-day tournament was held by the ladies' section of the Levin Golf Club on King's Birthday, when visitors were present from. Hawke's Bay, Manawatu, Shannon, Mangaore, Otaki and Wellington. The weather was perfect and all competitors enjoyed their games. A medal and bogey combined was played ov.er 14 holes in the morning, and a fourball best ball bogey in the afternoon. A continuous driving competition was held during the day. Results of the " competitions were as follows: — Medal round-: Mrs. H. D. RiOhards; runner-up: Mrs. F. Ryder. Bogey match: Mrs. H. D. Richards;- runner-up: Mrs. C. King on the count back from Mrs. Ryder. Fourball best ball bogey: Mrs. H. Black and Miss E. Lumsden (Manawatu) ; . runnersup: Mrs. Long and Mrs. Bradford a (Otaki). Long drive: Mrs. Bradford (Otaki . The captain of the Levin Club, Mrs. R. A* Frederikson, thanked the visitors for their support and expresSed the wish that the event would be an annual one. Miss Thompson, Manawatu, replied on behalf of the visitors. Players in the first round of the Park Rose Bowl are reminded that all matches must be completed on Saturday of this week. The second round commences on Sunday and two weeks are given for each round. After a strong challenge from Mesdames H. and J. Black the holders; Mesdames Richards and Franklin, retaihed ' the Hunter Buttons. These buttons may be challenged for by a senior and junior handicap player, senior up to 26 and junior from 27 to 36. The C grade competition for last week was wcm by Miss B. Kilsby with three points. . Miss A, Todd was seeond with two and Miss L. Franklin third with one point. The draw for this week is as follows: Misses • Kilsby and; Evison, Misses B. McMinn and Franklin, Miss A. Todd and marker. Intermediate: Miss P. Todd and Mrs. O. Brown, Mrs. Corry and Miss Cowan. The midweek players will play on Wednesdays and the draw will take place at the clubhouse. Anyone unable to play is to advise her partner, The draw for tjie Stableford Bogey for weekend players is as follows: Mesdames Alexander and Mrs. J. Black, Mrs. Porter and Miss Hosie, Mrs. Willcox and Miss Nalder. Mesdames E. W. Clark and O. Brown will be on tea duty on Saturday.
