Whitham. Already work has commenced on the joining up of the new exchange -with the old, and the linking up of some 1200 subgcribers. This work is being done In such a manner as to ensure that there will be no interruption in the service during the changeover. When the new cable has been joined up, the old connections wilL.be seVered and calls wlil then be transferred to the new exchange, No date has yet been fixed for the official opening.
