RAINFALL AT OTAKI

The rainfall at Otaki for May, as recorded b-y Mr. F. H. Critchley, shows a total fall of 1.46 inches, with the highest fall on the 28th, when .73 of an inch was recorded. Rain fell on six days, there were nine frosts and a fairly heavy earthquake shock at 2.9 p.m. on the 5th. It was cairn at 9.30 a.m. on twenty days. Snow fell on the ranges on two occasions. It was a ver-y good- autumn month, the many cold nights being followed by beautiful days. The rainfall for May of the previous year was 3.96 inches, with fourteen rain days.
