SHORTAGE OF WOOLLENS
WELLINGTON, June 3. The shortage of all types of New Zdala n d maile woollen goods goes from bad to vvorse. Thonsands of women are going from shop to shop in a vain eft'ort to obtain winter clothing for their families and themselves. This was stated today by the New Zealand Retailers' Federation when ksked whether ahiy improvement in deliveries from the loeal woollen mills had become apparent during tlie Jast ten days. The federation attributed. the shortage to the continued delay by the Government either to grant a subsidy to manufacturers or allow an incregse in priee to olfset the rise in pr.ice of wool at reeent saies, The embarrassment of the general publio was acnte but nothing compared with the lack of consideration of mothers of young children and ex pectant mothers who were spendinq their time in visiting shop after shop in the futile seareh, it was stated, ' * The Government 's delay in eoming to a deciaion now amounta to a public scandal/' said the federation.
