Students, workers . and intellectuals are also rcported to have been gaoled in the general roundup. • In Canton 20.00 parading students of the Sun Yat Sen University elashed with Government agents. Scores were beaten and a number arrested though none was killed. In Nanking itself a state of alert existed at midnight with the number of police cloubled and troops patrollmg' the streets at many points -in the city. A black list has been prepared in Nanking of persons tlie Government eonsiders undesirable and arrests may be made at any time. Many arrests were made in Shang'hai today. Students of praetieally all the Shang'hai universities continued the strike with many proi'essors of the Chiaotung University and Fun Tan Universty who yro protesting against the arrest of students.
