FRENCH PROTEST AT ESCAPE OF ABD EL KRIM

4 Received Tuesday. 10.30 a.m. ' PARIS, June 2. The French Minisuer oi roreigi, Affairs, M. Bidauit, has vigorousiy protested to the Egyption Amoassador, Sariot Bey, against what M. Bidauit called "the complicity of iie Egyption Government" in Aba el Krim's -escape from French cusuody. It is learned that JVL . Bidauit ^pld the Egyptian Amb.assador that ohe French Gov.ernment had ob„ained a great deal of evidence provmg Egypt's' responsibility for Knm's landing in Egypt. Earlier it was stated that Abd el Krim, who led the Riffs until he was defeated in 1925, landed at Port Said with his two wives and 11 children after 21 years' exile on Reunion Island, states Reuter's correspondent in Cairo. The Egyptian Government has decided to allow him to take up residence in Egypt, Ihe move is regarded as an appropriate reply to the -French action m refusing to allow an Egyptian cruiser to unload relief suppiies in Tunis. On lapding, Abd el Krim said: "The French granted me an amnesty on condition that I live in France." A French Government spokesman said that Abd el Krim pledged, when he surrendered in 1926, that he would remain in French cuscody. "We have always accepted his word of henour, and after his very gallant behavious in the last 10 years, the breach of faith has caused us very great surprjse."
