— "" " .. YEAR IN RETRGSPECT The annual general meeting of the Levin v Central Bowling • Cluto was held recently wlien there was a good, 'attendance of members. The presiderit, Mr. G. Sweetman, gave a general report oh the work done during the past year and chankedv all for their loyal support and help during-his term of offlce. The seeretary, Mr; K. A. Bowater, , gave a report on all activities of1 the clufo during the year and. pointed out that there had. beeni an increase in membership'. He j also gave a general review of a'll: matches- played. " - The club championships were'; won by- the followingt — A or senior; singles: Mr. K. 'A. 'Bdwater; A .or: senior palfs: Messrs. W. 3. Blake and . K. A. Bowater; A or senior rinks: Messrs. H. Poad, S. Bmail,'. W. G. dark and E. Hayes (s). B or intermediate singles: Mr. S. G/ Taylor; B or intermediate pairs : Messrs. A. Corson and E. F. Laoey; 3 or intermediate rinks : Messrs. J. Cormaek, H. Langtry, E. Hearle and S. G. Taylor (s) . Junior. singles: Mr. H. A. Fenn. The club was suceessfu! in winning the Bowater memorial teophy this season by nine points from Levin, and were also runners-up in the quadrangular shieid competition and southern section of he Manawata Pennants competition. The treasurer, Mr. F. E. Lange•lan, then presented the financial statement and balance sheet whieh showed the club to be in a oound posltion with a very favourable credit balanee. Other reporfcs were given by the caterer, Mr. F. Fleteher, and the convener of the social committee, Mr. W. Seddon. The election of offlcers for the following year resulted as follows: — Patron: Mr. H. B. Burdekin; president: Mr. D. Hartstonge; viee-president: Mr. W. Sharp; seeretary: -Mr. K. A. Bowater; treasurer: Mr. H. A. Fenn; .caterer: Mr. F. Fleteher; management committee : Messrs. E. F. Lacey, T. Taylor, C. Walker and W. Mudgway; hon. auditor: Mr. G. H. Sorenson; match committee: Messrs. J. H. Ir-ving, W. Seddon rnd K. A. Bowater; green committee: Messrs. H. Poad, W. Dalzell and H. Findlayson; beautifying committee: Messrs. E. Collis, W. Seddon, H. Poad and T. Taylor; match supervisor: Mr. J. H. Irving, Mr. H. Harvey took the opportunity of presenting to the club a handsome cup for play betweeil members in the intermediate •grade singles eompetition. Mr. Harvey was accorded a hearty vote of thanks for liis fine gesture. It was decided to improve ihe banks of the green and a working bee is to be held on Saturday next, May 31, to commence at 8.30 a.m. It is hoped that a good piuster of members willing to help with the work will be present.
