Lynch had to reeeive medieal attention and the fracture neeessitated his arm being placed in a sling. In the opening - event, the Whirokino Steeples, Lynch rode Spear Fish, which came to grief at the "hencoop" about five furlongs from home. Apparently his eollarbone was fractured, but the jockey was unaware of the break, thjnking that he had only re eeived bad jarring. Bajr Robe jumpod into the lead quickly in the hurdle race and stayed in front throughout, but keen observers noted that the jockey could giye his mount little assistance. and it was no surprise to find that such an injury was the cause.
