BRITAIN'S DAY IN TOKIO

Received Sunday, 8.50 p.m. TOKIO, May 24. Today was Britain's day in Tokio. In -f ront of Hirohito 's Imperial Palk.ce units of the British Navy and Air Force and Australian, New Zealand and Indian troops staged one of tlie biggest and most spectacular parades seen in Japan's capital. .Nearly 1500 troops led by sailors marched past the colours of the Commonwealth nations and the salute was taken by Air Marshal F. M. Bladin. Several thousand people thronged the plaza for the occasion. Those who attended included Lieutenant-General Derevyanko of the Soviet Mission and representativos of other allied nations. The parade was followed by a recep tion at Empire House, the sub-area headquarters of the British Commonwealth Occupation Fofce. The remainder of the day'.s-pro-gramme consisted of a garden party given by the British CommonweaJth member of the Allied Council for Japan, General MacMahon Ball, and it was attended'by more than 200 persons.
