WELLINGTON, May 23. . The present-grade of petrol availablo' for, motorists in New Zealand is to remain unehanged, it was authoritatively' learnt today. The speciiieations of this " standard grade were laid down by the British uthorities some years- ago. It is understood that in order to eomply with the wishes of these authorities, the New Zealand Customs Department has issued instructions to importing firms that only this grade may be brought into the country. Improvements in the quality- of petrol mean greater losses in refining and the present "standard grade is designed to give the greatest quantity of : motor. spirit from crude~oil.
