— — o OTAKI ELECTORATE COMMITTEE ( MEETS A large and enthusiaStic gathering of delegates numbering 136 attended the annual meeting of the Otaki Ejleetorate committee of the N.Z.* National Party, held at Waikanae this week., Every branch was fully represented, including delegates from the junior branches. , Following the singing of the National Anthem, the electorate chairman, Mr. D. P. Todd, warmly welcomed Mr. J. J. Maher a'nd congratulated him on his success at the last elections. The divisional chairman, Mr. J. H. Mcllroy was also welcomed. Mr. Todd, in presenting the annual report, d'ealt fully with the progress of the National Party organisation si-nce 1935. The previous year had been an arduous one, and on behalf of the executive he sincerely thanked everybody for their - enthusiastic assistance throughout 1946. The a'iinual statement of accounts and balance sheet showed a satisfactory position, and the stmigth of the voluntary financial members of Otaki' Electorate was a gratifying feature. ' > . Mr. Mcllroy, in addressing those present, covered many aspects of the party's plans and appealed for 100 per cent. encouragement of the junior movement. His remarks were supported. by the organiser, Mr. C. R. Day. Resolutions in appreciation of the services to the party of Messrs. D. P. Todd, R. G. Romans and C. R. Day were passed. * The election of offlcers resulted as follows: — Electorate chairman: Mr. * A. D. Moss; deputy electorate chairman: Mr. J. W. Mexted; secretary-treasurer : Mr. R. G. Romans; organiser: Mr. C. R. Day; hon. auditor: Mr. J. E. Fullarton; delegates to divisional conference: Mrs. D. Hall, Miss N. Walker, Brigadier R. A. Row and Mr. A. Hardham; delegates to Dominion conference: Mrs. D. Hall, Miss N. Walker, Mr. V. J. Cottle and Brigadier R. A. Row. The gathering then listened to an interesting address by Mr. J. J. Maher, M.P., in, which he warned everybody of the growing menace from the disruptive elements which sought to reduce the Dominion, a democratic and enterprising country, to chaos. Supper dispensed by the Waikanae ladies terminated the meeting. ..
