FORTY YEARS OF PROGRESS
TODAY IS PLUNKET FOUNDER'S DAY r On May 14 each year members of the Plunket Society in branCb.es throughout the Dominion meet to honour the memOry of the , Society 's founder, the late Sir Truby King. Founder's Day this year is a special occasion for it marks the fortieth anniversary of •«]h6 founding of the society. It is A day of looking back over forty years of strenuous endeavour and splendid' accomplishment, and of looking forward into a future which calls for greater effort yet. Sir Trftby Ki'ng in his* iifetime saW the work which he had commenced spread throughout New Zealand and to other parts of the* world. Today there are 77 branches and approximately 500 sub-branches "of the society employing 160 nurses% Karitane Hospitals are established -i'n six centres and are- staffed by 3*0' registered nurses. The society trains each year 100 Plunket nurses and1 over 100 Karitane nurses. Yet there is great need for "further imffiediate expansion.. Those who kneW' Si:r Truby- have done well in passing on hfs> id'dals co those who* will succeed them* in offfce, - thus - ensuring that the future of the work he established will be in safe hands.
