MAORI OWNERS OF SITE SAIlD TO BE CONTESTING SALE * At statement that they bPlleved chat the erection of the proposed 1 tuberculosis sanatorium in Kawiu Road, Eevin> was* being.'opposed by the" Maori owners, Was* mad'e tiy Messrs E. E. Tyrreil and G. H. Sorenson, of the' tevm" * Juriior Chamber of Commerce, during an inspection oi the site by Mr. J. J. Maher, M.P. for Otaki,, yesterday. It was pointed out to Mr. Maher that the land, which is being, leased by Messrs N'.- W. RydCr - and S. B. Read, was native property, and that the: Maoris were. anxious to Xarm the* land artd would dispute any atteihpt by the Government to take it over for such a purpbse. The Junior Chamber of Commerce, sai'd' Mr. Sorenson, was/anxious that the sanatorium be sited in gevin and wished' to ob€ain: all the support possible to force the Goverhhient to take the land over under the Public Works Act.
