Received Tuesday, 10.25 a.m. LONDON, M'dy 12. Guns boomed a Royal Salute from the Tower of London as the Umge crowd at Waterloo Station tjcheered the return of the Royal Family from their South Aftic&n tour. The Royal procession in dpe'h landaus, led by the Sovereign escort of the Household Cavalry, with flying pennants and drawn sabres, drove slowly to Buckingham Palace, via Westmins'ter, Whitehall, Trafalgar Square and The Mall. The crowds along the route Were greater than the police anticipated. * Bells pealed and people cheered as the King and Queen drove past Westminster Abbey, where they were crowned exactly ten years ago. As the landaus, drawn by the famous Windsor greys and led by scarlet outriders, entered Whitehall, a group of workmen unfurled a home-made banner inscribed, "We're glad to see you back home." Outside the War Office a party of South African officers shouted "Welcome Home" in Afrikaans. In The Mall the King and Queen waved greetings to a group of South African negro students. In Trafalgar Square a great throng shouted London's welcome and a grouD of street Cleaners caused the Royal Family to smile widely when they presented arms with broomsticks. Their Majesties arrived at Buckingham Palace at 11 a.m. (G.M.T.). Other members of the Royal entourage followed in three open carriaaes drawn bv bavs.
