The Chief Reeretary, Mr. Badfleley, Iras asked the Premier, Mr. McGirr, to take aetion to prevent the refuelling or ships and unloading of explosives aL Sydney wharves. He sent Mr. McGirr Ihe report of the Board of Fire Commissioners which warned that Sydney faced the danger of a fire . comparaoie with the reeent Texas Oitv disaster. Tlie report stated that the wartime emergency handling of explosives at Sydney wharves was continuing anu could cause serious destruction of lite and property.
