Eeceived Sunday, 11.25 p.m. LOXDOX, May 11. General Sir Oliver Leese who succeeded Viscount Montgomerv as leader of the Eighth Army in Italy.and opposed" Ivesselring who has been sentenced to death for ordering the Ardeatine eaves niassacre, does not think Ivesselring should die, says the Sunday Pictorial, "Kesselring was a very gallant soldier who fought his battles well ancl ' squ'arely. Eighth Army men who fought against him had no complaints about his conduct. Kesseli'ing, like Rommel, set a very good example in the treatment of prisoners — a far better example than tlie Italians. I still think he behaved like a soldier," he said.
