INDIA FACING FOOD CRISIS
Received Monday, 10.15 a.m. BANGALORE, May 11. India is facing a difficult food situation because of the failure of the wheat crops in" India and the inadequate supply of food grains from abroad, said Mr. Rajendra Prasad, Food Minister of the interim Government. He added that India had so far received only 182,000 tons of the 400,000 tons of rice which had been allocated to India for the first half of 1947. The Government was not prepared for the food crisis as the crops had shown promise in the earlv stages.
