WELLINGTON, May 9. . Indications at present were that the , first unit at Karapiro would re^uire , some time of running in yet before it was ready for fulltime commercial production on load, said an official of the State Hydro-electric Departme^t today. Ile said 'the second week-long test run would end tomorrow and if all. was well the maehine would begin another test on Sundav night. So far the condition of the maehine was not very differeut from last weelc. In spite of tlie greater generation of electricity at Mangahao following the filling of the dams at the beginning of tbe week, there liad been no improverhent in the water storage generally at Lake Taupo and Lake Waikaremoana.
